Speed Up Windows XP Startup By Defragmenting

If you think your PC boot pretty fast, just remember that you can always make it faster.A very simple way to speed up windows xp startup is Boot Defragment. Note that I am talking about Boot Defragmenting Boot files and not the entire hard disk (which speeds up windows in general). This will put all the boot files on your hard disk next to one another which leads to a faster start.

Althought the boot defragment is enabled by default on most systems that keeps defragmenting time to time, your system might not have it due to various reasons. To enable boot defragment, run the Registry Editor and go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Dfrg\BootOptimizeFunctionEdit the Enable string value to Y if it is not already set to Y. Exit the Registry and reboot. The next time you reboot, boot defragment will take place and your windows XP startup time would be smaller.
