How Catabolism It Affects a Weight Gaining Program

The best state for your body to be in is an anabolic state. Simply stated, this means that your body is being fed, which ensures that your muscle proteins are left in tact. This is why eating 5-7 small meals throughout the day are so important. If you go 2-3 hours without protein then catabolism is triggered, which decreases your muscle size. Catabolism basically refers to the breakdown of muscle proteins for use within the body.

If your weight gaining program doesn’t involve frequently feeding your body, bad things in terms of muscle growth begin to happen. When you are in a catabolic state, your metabolism slows down and your body goes into starvation mode as a natural response. Avoid this outcome at all costs.
