Most people are aware of the increasing incidence of both credit card fraud and identity theft and take reasonable precautions against them. One thing you should probably think about, which might help you in future, is to keep a list of the helpline telephone numbers for your credit cards. These are usually printed on the card but what if you lost the card(s) and needed to cancel them quickly? If you don’t have a note of the numbers then it might take you longer than anticipated – and this would effectively extend the window of opportunity for any fraudster to take advantage of your misfortune.
