I have to admit that I was never very familiar at all with any kind of counseling so I guess it shouldn’t come as a shock that I was a little bit surprised about some of the methods that are used in Christian marriage counseling. For example, one of the things that I was really surprised about is that most Christian counselors will insist that a wife be submissive to her husband. I know that many people think that the Bible instructs us to do this, but I’ve also heard from various teachers that a lot of the biblical passages have actually been misinterpreted.
